EQUIPMENT

  • Large pot
  • 2 12-cup muffin tins

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter half a stick
  • teaspoon salt
  • 4 cups mini marshmallows about ¾ of a 10 oz bag
  • 5 cups Cocoa Pebbles cereal
  • 18 tablespoons creamy peanut butter just over 1 cup
  • Sprinkles of choice
  • 54 mini cadbury eggs about 1 ¼ cup

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Lightly grease two 12-cup muffin tins with cooking spray and set aside.
  • In a pot over low heat, melt 4 tablespoons unsalted butter and then stir in ⅛ teaspoon salt.
  • Add 4 cups mini marshmallows, stirring occasionally until fully melted. Remove the pot from the heat.
  • Add and gently fold in 5 cups Cocoa Pebbles cereal until completely coated in the melted marshmallows.
  • Fill each muffin cup with 3 to 4 tablespoons of the cocoa pebbles mixture and then press it into the cup to mold it. Make sure not to press too hard or it can make the treats tough. There should be a small dip in the center to fill with the peanut butter. Let it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes to cool and firm up.
  • Once the nests have set, divide the 18 tablespoons creamy peanut butter to top each next with 1 tablespoon of peanut butter each.
  • Add Sprinkles of choice if desired and then divide the 54 mini cadbury eggs to top each nest with 3 mini Cadbury eggs.
  • Carefully remove each nest with a butter knife or wooden skewer and then place on a serving platter.

NOTES

  • Storage Instructions: These birds' nests are best enjoyed the same day they're made. However, you can store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature to eat for an additional 2 days.
  • How Come My Cocoa Pebbles Nests Came Out Hard? Hard cocoa pebbles treats can happen when the marshmallow mixture is overcooked. Therefore, it's important only to heat the mixture until it fully melts. Another reason hard treats can happen is if the treat mixture is pressed too hard into the pan. Be sure to gently press the mixture in without compacting it!
  • What Should I Do If The Marshmallow Cereal Mixture Sticks To The Back Of My Spoon When I Try To Make A Dent For The Nest? Lightly spray the back of your spoon, tablespoon, or even fingers with cooking spray. This will prevent the mixture from sticking to your hands or spoons as you press a dent in the middle of the nest.
  • Can I Use Salted Butter In This Recipe? Yes, salted butter can be used when making these easter nests. To do so, just omit the additional salt the recipe calls for.
