Variations And Substitutions For Monster Jello Cookies

Flavors- Use any flavor Jello that you prefer. Be sure to match the flavor with the appropriate color food coloring for a full festive look!

Sprinkles- I like using candy eyes of different sizes to achieve the look I want. You could also roll these cookies in Halloween-inspired sprinkles if you’d prefer to skip the eyeballs!

Size- You can make these as large or as small as you’d like! You will have to adjust the baking time depending on the size you make. Smaller cookies will bake for 8-10 minutes and larger cookies can bake up to 14 minutes.

How To Make Monster Jello Cookies

Step One: Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper, then set aside. In a large mixing bowl, combine butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs and vanilla and mix until just combined. Add flour and baking soda, then separate the dough evenly into 3 different bowls.

Step Two: Add 2 tablespoons of orange jello into one bowl of dough. Add 2 tablespoons of grape jello into the second bowl, and repeat with the final bowl and lime jello. Add 2-3 drops of food coloring into the corresponding bowls (Purple in grape, green in lime, and orange in orange.) Mix each bowl until the jello and food coloring is thoroughly mixed with the dough.

Step Three: Portion the dough into about 1 1/2 inch balls, or use a small cookie scoop. Roll each ball carefully in a bowl of granulated sugar until all sides are coated, then place each ball at least 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet. Using the bottom of a glass or jar, gently press down on each cookie until it is about 1 inch thick. Press candy eyes onto the top of each cookie. Bake for 8-10 minutes, then allow to rest on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before moving to a cooling rack.

How To Store Monster Jello Cookies

Store these cookies in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To preserve the softness of the cookies, I recommend sticking a slice of bread in the same container. These cookies are best served at room temperature.

Add the candy eyes before baking to ensure they stay on the cookies. Adding the eyes after the cookies bake won’t guarantee the eyes will stick to the cookies.

You can make small batches of Jello with the remaining powder, or you can save the leftovers for a different batch of cookies!

No, you don’t have to use all 3 flavors of Jello. You can use any amount of flavors as long as your portion the dough correctly.
